I have been employed as: “African Studies Centre (ASC) Library Cataloguing Assistant” as part of a 10-month project to classify, catalogue and organise the ASC Library, which is currently based at 13 Bevington Road. I have worked in the Oxford University library system for a blanchingly long period of time. I will say, not wishing to dwell on this that I was around for the introduction of the first automated library management system (Dobis-Libis) at Oxford University, and the subsequent iterations GEAC and the current Aleph library management system, which is soon to be replaced by Alma. I have fulfilled many different roles, but generally I have worked as a cataloguer. One of my most interesting positions was working on the Early Printed Books (EPB) project, as an antiquarian cataloguer, for over a decade. Essentially, this involved cataloguing early printed books (pre-1800) in various college libraries in Oxford. Consequently, I have very significant knowledge of the library system in Oxford. Please feel free to visit the ASC library. Also, I am available to hopefully answer any questions about the Oxford library system, if you feel I can be of help.
