St Antony’s College and the African Studies Centre (ASC) at the University of Oxford are hosting a conference to be held between 24-26 April 2014 on 20 Years of South African Democracy.

On the the evening of the 24th April there will be a performance of Matthew Hahn’s The Robben Island Bible, with a post-performance reception sponsored by Brand South Africa. Our Conference panels will begin on the morning of Friday 25th April and in the afternoon, Deputy President of South Africa Kgalema Motlanthe will deliver the Conference Keynote Address. Later that evening, there will be a plenary session involving Professor Adam Habib, Tony Leon, Justice Kate O’Regan and Professor Xolela Mangcu chaired by Dr. Jonny Steinberg.

Saturday will see further panels, including sessions looking at the ANC in power and the forthcoming 2014 election, as well as a number of  book launches and a closing session and reception.
